Hospice is a special concept designed to provide care and comfort measures, such as pain management, to the terminally ill. A patient has to be diagnosed as having six months or less to live. Hospice agencies can come to your home, an assisted living or nursing home. There are also some free-standing hospice homes. The team is made up of clinical staff as well as volunteers. Medicare covers this service.
