Older Driver Safety

Driving is a critical part of our daily lives – our lifeline, ensuring we can pick up groceries, see our family, get to work, and visit our doctors. Various health conditions and declines in visual, thinking, and physical abilities that occur with aging can affect driving ability. If you take multiple medications to help those conditions, you could be putting yourself and others in danger. To learn more about older drive safety, visit the website above.

Personal Identification Card

For older New Yorkers who do not drive or have never driven, a non-driver photo identification card may be purchased from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Some local offices for the aging may also provide identification cards. Call your local office for aging to ask if they have such a program.
